Mission

The Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships (PSP) was endowed in February, 2007, with $1,000,000 from numerous supporters. The purpose of the PSP's is to support the long-term viability of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE) and the International Law Enforcement Enterprise (ILEE).

Commitment

By supporting GILEE and ILEE the Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships will help ensure the provision of better public safety in an era of international terrorism and increasing challenges of property and violent crime. The PSP strives to enhance public safety by nurturing existing and new partnerships within and across public agencies and the private sector. The PSP is committed to promote GILEE and ILEE efforts towards a better understanding of the

	International terror threat
	Challenges it poses
	Local and international crime
	Challenges of coping with terrorism AND crime
	Scope of solutions to be devised and offered

The Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships will

	Increase international cooperation in the areas of homeland security and crime fighting, and
	Promote shared experiences of best practices
	Focus on executive development.

Programs

The Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships will provide support to and rely on two well established programs that have been operating at Georgia State University:

	GILEE - The Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (established -1992)
	ILEE - International Law Enforcement Enterprise (established -1999)

Faculty

Dr. Robert R. Friedmann is the first Public Safety Partnerships Distinguished Chair.
